When I began work for the Polish Radio, none of the journalists I knew, had passports. We lived imprisoned in grey apartament blocks, where the only music you could hear was official pop, less official rock and underground punk. Radio stations played English music as well, but it suited the climate, melted into the background and thrived.
At one time, David Hopkins and Pol Huellou came to Osjan's concert. They were truly amazed by the amounts of tea one could drink. Beer, at the time, was a rarity. Somehow, I managed to get hold of a few bottles and when at long last, my guests were happilly guzzling them down, I asked what it meant to be a Celt. "The ability to travel" they replied.
In time long passed, the Celts were nomads, erecting monasteries on the Continent and sharing their knowledge widely with other tribes. Nowadays, when you board a plane and can fly to any destination of your choice, one has to find a different means of travel and another space in which to do so.
This ability is given to you by music.
I played folk at the time and by doing so, had the opportunity to meet crowds of fantastic people...
Did we live in a communist country? Most probably, but we didn't give it a second thought, because we were constantly on the move, traveling with music.
The system changed,the boundaries opened, we grew old, and the path became crowded, more so, with the passing of time...
Thus, I would like to greet all those, who travel differently... Safe Journey!

Gdy zaczynałem pracę w radiu, nie mielismy paszportów. Żylismy uwięzieni w szarych blokowiskach, w których grał albo oficjalny pop, albo mniej oficjalny rock aż do podziemnego punka. Buyła jeszcze anglosaska muzyka, ale ta komponowała się z otoczeniem, zlewała i czuła się tu dobrze. Na koncert Osjana przyjechał wtedy David Hopkins i Pol Huellou.Nie mogli się nadziwić, ile można pić herbaty, a piwo było wówczas rarytasem. Zdobyłem parę butelek i gdy przyssali się w końcu do nich, spytani, co oznacza bycie Celtem, odpowiedzieli - podrózowanie. Kiedys Celtowie wędrowali, zakładali klasztory na kontynencie, dzielili się wiedzą... Dzis jednak, gdy wsiadasz w samolot i lecisz gdzie chcesz, trzeba znaleźć inny sposób podrózowania i inną przestrzeń. Tę daje muzyka. Grałem wówczas folk i na tej drodze spotkałem masę fantastycznych ludzi. Czy mieszkalismy w komunistycznym kraju? Pewnie tak, ale nie zauważylismy tego, bo bylismy ... w podrózy. Zmienił się ustrój, otworzyły granice, postarzelismy się, a na szlaku coraz tłoczniej, więc pozdrawiam wszystkich, podrózujących inaczej.
